Background

My career has been a journey from the left-brain experiences of finance, accounting and systems development to the right-brain people-oriented activities of marketing, communications, visioning, change management, engagement and mediation.


This journey has afforded me an integral understanding of and respect for both a business’ bottom line and the emotional challenges of people in conflict, whether in a marital dispute or a work-place conflict involving a business’ most important asset – people.

Background

This journey has afforded me an integral understanding of and respect for both a business’ bottom line and the emotional challenges of people in conflict, whether in a marital dispute or a work-place conflict involving a business’ most important asset – people.

Finance & Business

My business education started with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from UBC. Two years later I qualified as a Chartered Accountant after articling with Thorne Riddell in Vancouver, a predecessor firm to KPMG.


I have experience as a company executive in the capacity of CFO for entrepreneurial companies, including Uniglobe Travel International, International Investment Properties and Modatech. I have prepared successful business plans for companies like Petcetera and Cruise Ship Centers. 


I have consulted on projects for Vancouver Canucks Center Ice Restaurant, Young’s Franchise Group in England, Harrison Hotel, Dominion Construction and Keg Restaurants amongst others. I also founded and ran a successful software company for Uniglobe Travel International.

Visioning & People Management

In mid-career, I honoured a deep passion for understanding people as individuals and how to help them transition through difficult times. I attracted psychologist mentors on one hand and dedicated myself to extensive self-study about people and their emotional lives on the other. 


In honoring this passion, I developed change management and vision development workshops, in concert with a Ph.D. Psychologist as both my mentor and editor. 


I also designed an employee engagement and fulfillment system called Star Within where I added my own original work to innovative ideas I have embraced along my journey. 


I have worked with executive teams and functional teams in conflict as well as individuals needing direction at work.
